Experience
I enjoy tutoring a variety of subjects, but my favorites are calculus and biology! I am a current graduate student at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. I am working toward both my master's degree in Chemical Biology and finishing up my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering. Since I began college, I have tutored many other students in a variety of subjects while working with the Academic Support Center. I have also been conducting research in chemistry and cell biology. When I tutor, I first like to find out what a student's current knowledge of the subject we are working on encompasses. Then, we work on building their knowledge of the general concepts and the foundation of the subject, if needed, before we progress to more advanced topics. A deep understanding of the foundation of a subject helps students more than just memorizing facts or the answers to equations. I like to sum up my teaching philosophy in one sentence: "Don't memorize. Think, learn, and understand."When not tutoring, I enjoy a wide variety of activities. I like to act and sing, because I greatly enjoy the performing arts. I also like to stay in shape by working out at the gym, and I love when I get the chance to catch up with my fraternity brothers.
